Greetings, I trust you all had a good Thanksgiving! With that behind us, it is time to look forward to December. At our November monthly meeting it was voted to continue our annual Christmas Giving Tree for twelve needy children in Sidney and to collect money to support the Sidney Rescue. Last year we brought a smile to twelve children in Sidney by fulfilling their Christmas requests and we gave Sidney Rescue $300.
I received the following letter from Sidney Rescue:
November 5, 2018 RE: Arnold Trail Sportsman’s Donation
We wanted to thank the Arnold Trail Sportsman’s Association for their donation earlier this year. When we received your donation earlier this year, we decided to take the opportunity to send two people to Kennebunk for a day in September to become certified as Water Rescue Technicians. The training covered methods for saving a drowning person to stabilizing injured people in the water. The training was found to be so valuable that we will be sending two people this winter to become certified in Ice Rescue as well.
Thank you again for your donation!
Sincerely, Sidney Rescue
By the end of this week I will have a Christmas tree in the club house with twelve tags requesting certain gifts for twelve children in the Sidney area. I’m getting these requests from the Principal at the Bean School in Sidney. As in the past, we hope individual members will take a tag and help fill a Christmas wish for a child in Sidney. We would like to have all gifts wrapped and returned by our December Monthly meeting on the 16th. If you’re not a shopper but would like to donate to the cause, I will have a money envelope next to the signup list on the front table near the tree for your donation or you can mail it directly to me at 157 Middle Road, Oakland, ME 04963. We choose to do this each year to show that our association is more than just a bunch of “noise makers” every Sunday morning; we like to show we’re a good neighbor and a positive asset to the town of Sidney.
At our monthly meeting on Sunday, December 16th we will have a Christmas party with refreshments so I hope you will plan to come to the meeting (at 9 a.m.) and join our holiday celebration throughout the morning and make “a little noise”.
