I don’t want to say goodbye to summer yet, but cool nights and shorter days are telling me fall is fast approaching. And that means HUNTING season. Now is a great time to come out to Arnold Trail and dust off that old or new shotgun and sharpen-up your wing shooting ability.
On September 16th Captain Bill Kirby will once again put on his Lobster Clam Boil and Grilled Chicken meal with all the fixings. This is the 7th year Bill has done this for the club and this is a meal not to miss! Bill serves up a shore dinner with lobster, clams, potatoes, corn and a few other things he puts in the pot. The day will begin with our monthly meeting at 9 a.m., followed by shooting skeet, trap and sporting around 10. The format for each shooting activity will be 10 shots for $5 with the winner of each round getting their $5 back and the lucky draw of the round will also get $5 back. For each event you participate in you will receive a ticket for the many door prizes we have to give away. Following the meal, which will be served around 1, we will draw six numbers, each winning a flat (10 boxes) of shotgun shells – we have 3 20 gauge and 3 12 gauge flats – the seventh number wins a handgun safe and the final number drawn will win a shadow box with twelve beautiful streamer flies tied and donated by Terry Kenniston. All the raffle prizes have been donated by different members. We’ll also draw for the door prizes, the more you shoot the better your chances are to win door prizes. The cost for the meal is $23 for lobster or $15 for Barbecued chicken and raffle tickets are $10 a piece or 3 for $20. See or contact Jim McMullen for your meal ticket and lucky raffle numbers. This fun day is open to all, so plan to bring your family and friends for a fun day and a great meal. We’ll need a head count for the meal by Thursday, Sept. 13th so Bill will know how many to feed. I hope you will mark this on your calendar and plan to attend.
